As an unpublished- but still writing many books - author, I have checked out many writer's resources over the years. So of course, I have a couple favorites as well as a couple extra ones that I've used and still think are great.
I am also looking for new or small-community authors. I would love to read books I've never heard of and be able to talk about them on my blog. I want to foster a writers-helping-writers atmosphere here. So if you are or know of any authors, please send them to my Instagram page!
Sudowrite:
I feel like Sudowrite is a relatively new resource, but it has become one of my favorites over the last year. For one, I am a writer who struggles with description. Sudowrite has AI resources that have helped me overcome that, because the AI can recommend sensory detail for a scene.
I also like Sudowrite for it's expand feature, which is really helpful if you're unsure of where to go next in the story, or you want to expand a certain passage more. It's one of my favorite features.
Sudowrite has many other features, including writing scenes from scratch. Overall, I think it's a great resource for writers getting started, especially on new novels. It's a very well-rounded resource.
One Stop For Writers:
This website is great for writers who might be writing about something they haven't personally experienced, or looking for some extra help in sensory details. I love this resource for trying to accurately and realistically depict emotions.
This resource has really helped me dig deep into my characters and their traits. And I feel it has really helped me flesh out my stories and make them more realistic. Without putting too much time into research.
Overall, it truly is a one stop for trying to really bring your story to life. And I think it's great if you really want to get going with your writing, and don't want to dedicate too much time to research.
Aeon Timeline:
I didn't initially find Aeon Timeline to be a resource specifically for writers, as you can use it for just about anything that requires a timeline. But I love it for writing. You can create characters, character groups, and organize story events onto a neat timeline.
It's easy to use, so there isn't a huge learning process to go through before you can even use the resource. I love especially for the books I'm writing in a series, as it helps me keep track of events from before, without going back to an outline or different document.
I have also found it great for planning, because you can see how events will go. And it gave me a lot of time to reflect on how the events in my story should go and if I need to rethink my outline. Overall, this is a great resource.
Hemingway:
I put this one in the Honorable Mentions, simply because I haven't used it a lot. However, my experience with it has been alright. I have only used it on my fiction writing, nothing with science fiction, so I'm not sure how it handles writing that may be out of the ordinary.
However, I think it has the potential to be a great resource, like I said, I just haven't used it a lot myself.
As mentioned, I would love to work with other writers and build a community here. I plan to expand the blog more this year, and hopefully create more of a community as well as a book review place.
As a writer myself, though unpublished, I want to help fellow writers and authors, all throughout the process. I hope to work with some authors this year!
